Gesture Drawing

2012-2013 Q3 Gesture Drawing Display

7th Grade students used charcoal and ebony pencil to create gesture drawings as well as figure drawings.

Gesture drawings are loose, quick drawings of a figure that usually last less than 2 minutes.  They are meant to capture the general pose or motion of a figure and develop hand-eye coordination. Once students had developed a better understanding of the figure through gesture drawing, they were then able to complete a longer 12-15 minute figure drawing in charcoal.
