Collaborative Portrait of Jacob Lawrence

Students created a collaborative 5 by 7 foot drawing of African-American painter, Jacob Lawrence and one of his works of art (1972 Olympic Poster, The Runners).

For this assignments students were given an image on a 1″ by 1″ square that they had to replicate on to a 12″ by 12″ square. We discussed ratio and proportion and that they were going to enlarge the small square to be the same proportions on the larger square. Together the squares created the image.
