Terra Cotta Warriors

6th Grade students have been learning about Ancient China in there Social Studies class and we continued their exploration in art.  Students were introduced to Qin Shi Huang, China’s first Emperor, and his Terra Cotta Army.  Huang’s Army was created over a 30 year period and was built to protect him in the after life.  The Army included over 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses.  Amazingly, each of the warriors was completely different and weren’t discovered until 1974!
